AI form check

AI Dips
form check.

Film a set of dips from the side, upload it, and the AI scores every rep. It measures your elbow angle at the bottom and top, tracks how steady your forward lean stays, and catches swinging and shrugging as they creep in.

Every rep, scored

What the AI checks on your dips.

Depth
Your elbow angle is measured at the bottom of every rep, flagging dips that stay above about 110 degrees as shallow. It also checks whether your shoulder drops below your elbow.
Lockout
The elbow angle at the top of each rep is checked, so reps that stop short of straight arms get flagged as incomplete.
Forward lean
Your torso angle is measured through the set, flagging both an excessive lean past about 40 degrees and a lean that wobbles from rep to rep.
Shoulder shrug
Shoulder elevation is tracked at the bottom of each rep, catching shoulders rising toward the ears under load.
Swing control
Front-back swing and side-to-side sway are measured separately at the hips, flagging sets where momentum takes over.
Symmetry
Left and right elbow angles are compared on every rep, catching one arm dipping deeper than the other.
Common faults

Mistakes it catches.

Shallow dips
Not descending until the elbows pass 90 to 110 degrees, the most common flag once the set gets heavy.
Skipping lockout
Reversing before the arms straighten at the top, which quietly shrinks every rep.
Swinging through reps
Legs and hips generating momentum, measured directly as horizontal body movement.
Shrugging under load
Shoulders creeping up at the bottom, a stability leak that also stresses the shoulder joint.

Questions, answered

Dips form check, explained.

How do I film my dips for a form check?
Set your phone at chest height a few meters to your side, with your whole body in frame from head to feet through the full set. The side view is what lets the AI read your depth and forward lean.
How deep should I go on dips?
The analyzer expects your elbows to bend to about 110 degrees or less at the bottom, and it separately checks whether your shoulder dropped below elbow level, which is the classic full-depth standard.
Can AI detect swinging on dips?
Yes. The analyzer measures horizontal hip movement front to back and side to side on every rep, each against its own threshold, so momentum gets flagged before you would notice it yourself.
What does the dips form report include?
Per-rep verdicts on depth, lockout, forward lean amount and stability, shoulder shrug, swing and sway, and left-right symmetry, plus tempo timing for the descent and press of every rep.
