AI form check
AI Lat Pulldown
form check.
Film a set of pulldowns, upload it, and the AI scores every rep. It measures whether your arms fully extend at the top, how far you actually pull the bar down, and how much your torso swings to help the weight move.
Every rep, scored
What the AI checks on your lat pulldown.
- Full stretch at the top
- Your elbow angle is checked at the top of every rep, flagging reps where the arms never extend and the lats never reach a full stretch.
- Pull depth
- The elbow angle at the bottom of each rep is measured, flagging pulls that stop high instead of bringing the bar down toward your chest.
- Body swing
- Your torso angle range is tracked through each rep, flagging sway over about 20 degrees, the signature of leaning back to heave the stack.
- Shoulder shrug
- Shoulder elevation during the pull is measured, catching traps hitching upward when the lats should be pulling down.
- Symmetry
- Left and right elbow angles are compared at the bottom of every rep, flagging one arm pulling harder than the other.
Common faults
Mistakes it catches.
- Heaving with the torso
- Rocking back to move the weight, measured directly as torso angle swing per rep.
- Cutting the stretch
- Never letting the arms extend at the top, which removes the lat stretch that drives growth.
- Shallow pulls
- Stopping the bar high above the chest, measured by elbow angle at the bottom of each rep.
- Shrugging into the pull
- Shoulders rising during the pull instead of staying packed down and back.

Questions, answered
Lat Pulldown form check, explained.
- How do I film my lat pulldowns for a form check?
- Place your phone a few meters away, front-on or at a slight angle, with your whole upper body and the bar in frame for the full set. Make sure your elbows stay visible through the entire pull.
- Can AI tell if I am using momentum on pulldowns?
- Yes. The analyzer measures how much your torso angle changes within each rep, and swing beyond about 20 degrees gets flagged, so you can see exactly which reps were pulled by your lats and which by your bodyweight.
- How far down should I pull the bar?
- The analyzer checks your elbow angle at the bottom of each rep and flags pulls that stop short of a deep bend, roughly past 90 degrees, which corresponds to the bar reaching upper chest level with a full contraction.
- What does the lat pulldown report include?
- Per-rep verdicts on arm extension at the top, pull depth at the bottom, torso swing, shoulder shrugging, and left-right symmetry, plus pull and release tempo timing for every rep of your set.
